Guwahati, February 6, 2025 — In a significant step toward building climate-resilient skills and fostering green entrepreneurship, PRIDE COOP (Pragjyotishpur Recycling Initiative for Development & Environment Cooperative Society Limited) held its first official meeting with the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) on February 6, 2025.
The meeting was convened at CIPET’s regional centre in Guwahati and was attended by Dr. Harekrishna Deka, Senior Technical Officer & In-Charge, along with members of his team. During the interaction, Dr. Deka and his team extended their full support to PRIDE COOP’s vision and objectives, especially in areas related to skill development, training, and capacity building. The CIPET team acknowledged the need for technical interventions and certified training to ensure a skilled workforce that can effectively contribute to sustainable practices in recycling, waste management, and circular economy initiatives. With decades of experience in technical training, research, and industry support, CIPET’s collaboration with PRIDE COOP is expected to play a pivotal role in nurturing climate-smart professionals and entrepreneurs in Assam.
The discussions revolved around designing tailored training modules that align with PRIDE COOP’s goals—such as upskilling youth and women in waste processing, sustainable materials management, plastic recycling, and environmental safety standards. PRIDE COOP emphasized the need for community-led and accessible training programs, especially in the eight districts under its zonal jurisdiction.
Speaking after the meeting, PRIDE COOP representatives expressed their appreciation for CIPET’s proactive support and enthusiasm. “This partnership will not only bring technical expertise to our initiatives but also open doors for long-term employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for local communities,” a spokesperson said.
Both organizations agreed to outline the framework for collaboration in the coming weeks, including identification of training needs, curriculum development, and a rollout plan for workshops and certification courses. As PRIDE COOP continues to build a foundation for a circular and regenerative economy, this alliance with CIPET represents a crucial milestone in integrating industry-grade skills and sustainable innovation into its climate action model.
